19th Century Bureau Leather Desk from Maison Mercier Frères

About the Item

This elegant small desk is a creation of the esteemed Maison Mercier Frères of the renowned Faubourg St Antoine of Paris, with a legacy dating back to its establishment in 1828. The plaque of the Maison Mercier Frères adorns the underside of the desk. The leather can be changed to your desired colour for an additional free of 300€. About Maison Mercier Frères: Mercier Frères Décoration is an old decoration company, upholsterer, and furniture manufacturer, located at 100 Faubourg Saint-Antoine in Paris. Founded in 1828 by Claude Mercier, it closed in 1985. Specializing in stylish furniture, it supplied numerous European and Eastern courts, particularly the Imperial Family of Iran. Maison Mercier Frères participated in the Universal Exhibition of 1867 and 1900. They then published a plan for the exhibition's attractions. In 1914, they opened a branch in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and in 1920 a store, the Marble Palace, at 77 Avenue des Champs-Élysées. In 1927, they opened a branch in New York, at 232-236 E. 59th Street. For the Universal Exhibition of 1937 in Paris, Mercier Frères offered a "Parachute" attraction at the aeronautics pavilion.
