19th Century Louis XV Style Slant Front Desk in Coromandel Lacquer

About the Item

We present you a beautiful antique black slant-front desk in Coromandel lacquer, representing the opulent Louis XV style. The desk showcases images of scenes of Chinese daily life, teeming with vibrant depictions of people and nature birds set against a background of black-coated lacquer. The slant front is slightly curved, and so are the two sides, both of which feature a graceful curve as well. When opened, the interior reveals two drawers as well as a gilded red leather writing surface. The desk is adorned with finely detailed and gilded bronze decorations and fittings, including the sabots, lock escutcheons, and leg ornamentations.
