19th Century Burr Walnut Davenport by Edwards & Roberts

About the Item

A stunning 19th century figured walnut Davenport desk with brass grill. It has a fall front with a tooled leather writing surface, opening to reveal four small interior drawers with tiny turned handles. One side has a sliding ink tray, brushing slide and four graduated walnut drawers with wooden knob handles, all standing on bun feet with brass castors. Stamped by Edwards & Roberts. This magnificent piece is finished all the way around with spectacular figured walnut. The dimensions are: Height: 86cm (33.9in) Width: 57cm (22.4in) Depth: 58cm (22.8in) This Victorian period antique burr walnut davenport desk remains structurally solid and sound, with the drawers running well. Overall, a clean example with a lovely interior and working space. In good antique condition throughout with minor signs of age.     This is a sublime satinwood and marquetry desk by Edwards & Roberts, Circa 1880 in date. This gorgeous desk is freestanding and has been crafted from beautiful satinwood which has been masterfully inlaid with a marquetry of ribbons, swags and garlands. The rectangular top is beautifully framed with walnut cross-banding and features an inset gold tooled green leather writing surface above seven capacious drawers. The desk is raised on squared tapered legs that terminate in the original brass castors. It bears the stamp of the renowned cabinet makers Edward and Roberts in the centre drawer. Complete with the original handles and working loks and key. This elegant desk will make a wonderful addition to your home or office. Condition: In excellent condition having been beautifully cleaned polished waxed and releathered in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation.
