19th Century Late Victorian Mahogany Writing Table Signed Edwards & Roberts 1880

About the Item

Antique fine quality Victorian mahogany twin pedestal desk Edwards & Roberts. This particular desk is a Chinese Chippendale revival, circa 1880, late Victorian period. The desk top slides, it is not fixed with screws. It has end of stroke couplers that lock it in place. Its stands upon 8 bamboo inspired carved legs with square feet and small inserted brass castors. To Be Restored

Impressive case but of a proportion that makes the cabinet slender and well-proportioned. In addition to the skillful craftsmanship of the cabinetmaker who made this wooden body that looks like a painting, we must dwell on the mechanism!
