19th Century French Louis XV Leather Top Walnut Partner Desk with Bronze Mounts

About the Item

Add sophistication and grandeur to your office or study with this exquisite 19th-century French partner desk. Crafted in France circa 1880, this Louis XV-style writing table is constructed of king wood, walnut and satinwood veneer and boasts an elegant serpentine form with cabriole legs. The top features a tooled black leather writing surface framed with gilt-bronze trim, combining refinement and durability. The apron and corners are richly adorned with finely cast gilt bronze mounts, including classical female busts and acanthus scroll work, exemplifying the ornate craftsmanship of the period. The desk is designed for partner use, offering six functional drawers—three on each side—making it ideal for shared work spaces or large studies. Each drawer retains its original hardware, including bronze pulls and decorative escutcheons. The legs terminate in cast bronze sabots, adding further elegance and protection. In excellent condition commensurate with age and use, the desk displays a warm patinated finish and vibrant wood grain throughout. With its symmetrical design and striking presence, this antique bureau plat would make a commanding centerpiece in a formal library, executive office, or refined home interior, blending practical storage with timeless French luxury.
