19th Century Spanish Baroque Style Walnut Lyre Leg Writing Table or Side Table

About the Item

A finely carved Baroque style writing table or side table handcrafted of walnut by talented artisans in the Catalan region of Spain, circa 1880s. Having a single plank rectangular top with a beveled gadroon edge above an intricately carved frieze with two drawers across the front, this beautiful desk is raised on a pair of carved, lyre legs joined by hand-forged iron stretchers with a center medallion featuring a crown above interlocking gryphons holding swords. The rich, deep patina and handsome grain pattern only add to the character. ??Finished on all sides so that it can float in a room. Perfect for use as a desk or side table.
