Circa 1780-1800 George III slant front bureau or desk, English. Mahogany. A handsome example - the interior with obelisk inlays on the document drawers, the prospect door with bold satinwood diamond inlay. Six undulating, valenced pigeon holes & six holly banded drawers. Long history of quality period drawer hardware sets. Currently with brass open work batwing & bail pulls. Simple bracket feet. Oak secondary wood. The brass facing for one pull on the fall front supports worn away. Marks & scuffs commensurate with age & use. 38 5/8" w., 21.25" d., 42.25" h.
