English Edwardian Fully Fitted Oak Serpentine Roll Top Desk - Twin Pedestal
About the Item
Beautiful English Edwardian double pedestal, roll top oak desk. Handsomely made by ‘HLL’ Harris Lebus, London ‘Entirely English Make’. Classic English solid oak desk from the early 1900's. Fitted with so many drawers, writing trays and pigeon holes - its really wonderful to see the attention to detail. The desk comprises of two pedestals, each fitted with four large drawers with wide cup drawer handles, and a sliding desk top above. The tambour cover slides back smoothly to reveal a large desk underneath which is fitted with all manner of trays and compartments, including pen drawers, letter racks and smalls drawers, fitted with the most beautiful upturned handles. Arched central drawer and hidden wheel casters underneath the pedestals. Fully panelled all round.
Harris Lebus was a furniture manufacturer and wholesaler based in the East End of London in Tabernacle Street with a factory in Tottenham. The firm supplied stores such as Maple & Co. and are known for their quality and durability.

Lovely original condition with lots of patina and age. There are a few things to note: There are spots of ink to one side of the tambour - not as visible in life. There are some scuffs around the lower plinths and some wear inside the drawers - mostly the top right. the bottom left drawer has has a new base replacement and there are some light woodworm holes to the sides and below he lower drawers which are very old and dead.
This piece will be dismantled for transit to reduce postage costs, so will require very light assembly of reattaching screws. Full instructions given. Shipping outside of UK includes a custom made crate.
