About the Item
In the style of Montigny (Philippe-Claude Montigny, mai^tre in 1770), the rectangular tooled leather-lined top surrounded with a later ormolu border, above two frieze drawers and simulated drawers to the reverse, the escutcheons in the form of laurel-swagged pounced frames, the ends with acanthus sprays and drapery mounts to each corner, raised on square tapering legs ending in sabots.
