About the Item
English rosewood library table, attributed to Gillows of Lancaster and London. With elaborate holly wood inlay/marquetry cross banding using Thomas Wilkinson’s tracings who was a draughtsman in the 19th century, both George Bullock and Gillows used his inlayed decorative designs. The table has two frieze drawers with ornate end supports, which have cross grained, mouldings, and blind fret decoration, turned, reeded end caps and bun feet. These are braced by a turned, fluted structure.
