Swedish Biedermeier Birch Veneered Desk or Console Table, Circa 1880
About the Item
A Swedish Biedermeier birch veneered desk with drawers from the 19th century. This antique desk from Sweden, with it's beautiful birch wood grain veneer and decorative inlays, houses five-drawers (two stacked at either side and one at center), flanked within canted side posts. This table stands on tapered and angled feet, with front feet canted, repeating the angles of the side posts atop. The three top drawers are each adorn with decorative escutcheon key plates with bow-ties at their center, while the two lower drawers each have ornate ring pulls. This Swedish Biedermeier desk, circa 1880, has a leg clearance of 22.5" so depending on your size, it may be best suited as a console or lovely dresser.
