19th Century French Refectory or Dining Table

About the Item

A 19th century French refectory table, or dining table, from a monastery with top made from three heavy 2" thick planks of walnut supported by three salvaged cast iron posts, or columns. This table originally had a wood trestle base and the columns have been repurposed and married to the top. Beautiful character to the wood with knots and old patches, book-matched planks. Waxed patina. Posts are solid cast iron with warm rusty patina and weigh 80 pounds each. Top weighs over 200 pounds. Table comfortably seats 8-12 people, please see photos with dining chairs, sold separately. Good proportions for use as a center table or console. Because of the weight, posts will be detached for shipping and must be professionally reassembled on site. Circa 1850-1880. Dimensions: 117"W x 34"D x 30"H Clearance: 28" Contact us for a competitive shipping quotation. Please refer to photos for more details. Pictures are part of the description.
