19th Century French Renaissance Revival Dining Table ~ Center Table
About the Item
19th century French Renaissance Revival Dining Table ~ Center Table is a stunning testament to the skilled sculptors and cabinetmakers of mid-1800s France! Crafted entirely from dense, old growth oak, it features a solid plank top with the edge completely hand carved all around the circle's perimeter with a demilune design, overlooking a tailored apron with fine trim molding at the bottom. The table's round top is sizeable enough to easily seat six, or to serve as a magnificent entryway table for impressing your guests. Support is provided by a massive central column carved with upturned acanthus leaf motifs above, and rosettes appearing between the four leg mounts. The legs are sculpted from one piece depicting a lion in a pose appearing to be ready to pounce. The lion's expressive face and flowing mane are rendered in great detail, with an acanthus plume serving as the tail. Each lion rests on a double-scrolled foundation which leads down to the scrolled tip fitted with casters to make it easy to adjust the table's position in the room. Designed to be exquisite when viewed from all angles, it was crafted to last for centuries.
