Angelo Mangiarotti M1T70 dining table Skipper Italy 1969

About the Item

Wonderful and iconic M1T70 Carrara marble dining table designed by Angelo Mangiarotti and manufactured by Skipper in Italy in 1969. The M table is a significant piece in Angelo Mangiarotti’s work because it’s the first time he used marble to create furniture for homes. This table might seem simple, but it combines various design elements that Mangiarotti had explored in his previous projects. On one side, it draws inspiration from his CAP59 vases, featuring circles, hyperboloids, and lathing. On the other side, it’s like a geometric evolution of his SK207, but this time, it’s entirely made of marble. What makes the M table even more remarkable is its single gravity joint, which connects the top to the base. The tabletop is newly polished. This design marks the beginning of a journey that leads to four other masterpieces: Eros, Incas, Asolo, and More. Mangiarotti’s interest in this kind of rotational structure is closely related to his architectural work. For instance, the “Casa Tre Cilindri” (Three Cylinder House) in Milan, built between 1959 and 1962, features three towers connected by a central volume for vertical movement. It’s a structural engineering marvel with its central load-bearing structure that allows flexible layouts for each apartment. Even renowned architect Richard Neutra couldn’t resist admiring it during his visits to Italy. In summary, the M table is an all-marble beauty with a central stand that’s shaped like a hyperboloid, wider at the base and narrower at the top. This unique design allows the circular tabletop to sit snugly in the thickness of the top, creating a seamless and elegant piece of furniture. • Edoardo Landi Dining Table Studio D, Italy, 1973
    By Edoardo Landi
    Located in Roosendaal, Noord Brabant
Architectural dining table model T30 designed by Edoardo Landi and manufactured by Studio D, Italy 1973. This table is designed by Architect Landi in 1973, and was produced in a very small series by StudioD, together with some chairs, cabinets and tables. This table is made of solid pine wood and is stained in black, it has a glass top in the center which gives the table a nice transparent look. This table is a typical architects design, its clearly visible in the way its constructed and shaped. The table is differenly nice from every angle and is very nice in use as well. The middle part is open and can be used to store items, books, or paper work and it will be only visible from the top and sides. The table can be fully dis assembled for safe shipping. This is one of the most stunning tables I have seen recently and reminds a lot of the later designs by Jose Zanine Caldas as well. Documentation is available but not included in the sale. The table can use up to 8 chairs and the chairs on the picture are not included in this listing. Edoardo Landi studied architecture at the Scuola Superiore di Disegno Industriale, Venice. 1959–1964 founding member of Gruppo N...
