This remarkable table features a solid baked oak tabletop crafted from wide planks with beautiful grain patterns. Baking oak is a thermal process to speed up the aging of the wood. The result is a very natural wood, similar to oak wood of over 250 years old. This delicate process is extremely difficult to control and therefore not easy to replicate. Brimming with small natural cracks and knots, the wood presents a charmingly rustic aesthetic. The wood has been finished with a protective matte lacquer finish. that makes the table comfortable to use without risking stains.

Rombouts Bespoke Oak Furniture
Rombouts Furniture Workshop is a third-generation family business specializing in working with solid French oak wood. On one hand, we are renowned antique restorers, complemented by a dedicated team of master carpenters. Our material of choice is typically solid French oak wood. French oak is known for its calm and straight growth in centuries-old production forests within a mild climate. We collaborate with local sawmills to have the wood cut to our specifications. The majority of the wood is kiln-dried by us at high temperatures. This is a delicate aging process resulting in a natural color of oak wood, akin to wood that's centuries old. By utilizing the entire tree, we are able to create furniture ranging from flawless oak to highly rustic wood. All of our operations are conducted in our own workshop, equipped with the finest woodworking machinery used by the highly experienced craftsmen.
Our tables, meticulously crafted from solid aged oak, boast a medium rustic appearance and are tailor-made based on 3D drawings provided by us. With customizable dimensions up to 200 inches, we use QS2 oak, featuring a rustic look with small cracks and knots as seen in photos. The finishing involves wood sanding or brushing, complemented by a durable very matte natural or matte grey wash finish. Additional customization is available for an extra cost.

The planks are planed flat on the underside and only sanded on the top, revealing the saw cut from the bandsaw and dark spots from the artificial drying process. As a result, the surface of the table has a slightly uneven or bumpy character. Brimming with small natural cracks and knots, the wood presents a charmingly rustic aesthetic. The wood has been lightly finished with a grayish tint, giving it a subtle weathered look. The protective matte lacquer finish makes the table comfortable to use without risking stains.
