About the Item
The Brion Dining Table is made by American designer and maker, Greg Palombo. It is a solid wood table made from a rich, deeply colored red wood called sapele (much like mahogany). The design and name references Carlo Scarpa's Brion Tomb in Italy. The table takes its design ques from the amazing details present in Scarpa's work. The stepped style detailing is a way to showcase and celebrate craftsmanship, and works to visually draw the eye around the border of the table. The long and straight grain of the sapele wood reinforces this design element. While Scarpa was crucial, when designing we also spent a lot of time looking at Meso-American architecture and the California homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The result is a table who’s design is timeless and built to last generations.
The table top and legs are not permanently attached, they bolt together with steel hardware to make moving and shipping easy. All Greg Palombo pieces come with a life time warranty that covers any defect in craftsmanship or materials.

Greg Palombo
My name is Greg Palombo and I am an American furniture maker and designer. I produce and sell pieces found here on 1stdibs and I work with interior designers as a consultant for their furniture design and fabrication needs. The work I make takes on various personalities, but it all falls under a methodology of how they are conceived, designed and executed. The genre of furniture has so much to offer, and I am always responding to history, form, color, material, or workmanship. Each piece I make addresses an idea, or a combination of them. Working in this mode leaves little allegiance to an particular visual aesthetic which keeps the work fresh and exciting. I am always on my toes trying to dip and dodge through new challenges and hurtles in the design process. It leads to a lot of failure but the pursuit is what keeps me jazzed. When designing I always try to think about what a piece can become rather than what it is. Through this I hope how to express something beyond just function.
