This Jorge Zalszupin like design by Mario Ferrarini is truly magnificent. A leather base with a stone top, available in various sizes (from side table to large dining table) and top available in 6 types of natural stone. Please note this listing is for a very large dining table (180cm) with a 'Cigarro' base with the stunning 'Sahara Noir' top.
One of the great passions of the master craftsmen of De Sede is to experiment with leather as a material, always treading new paths. In the case of DS-615, they deserve all the accolades: they managed to take the idea of bringing our ARTISANO leather to the table and turn this into a reality.
A concealed metal construction serves as a stable support for the table leg, to which four pieces of leather in the form of a cone are applied with a strap seam.

A de Sede piece lends a strong personality to the room it occupies. One of the world’s most respected furniture design houses, de Sede’s quality Swiss craftsmanship has its foundation in a long history of making expertly designed saddles. Founded in 1965 to build on a successful family-run saddler’s workshop in Klingnau, Switzerland, de Sede now is a leading manufacturer of leather goods and furniture, including sofas, chairs and beds.
At the core of de Sede’s philosophy is a reverence for the complexity and beauty of handcrafted furniture in an age when mass-produced objects are the norm. Over the years, the atelier has built a name for itself in its modular furniture pieces, which are made using the highest quality leather upholstery. The sleek, elegant pieces incorporate functionality with beauty. Amongst their best-selling designs is the DS-600 introduced in 1972. Also known as the Non Stop sofa, it is a sensually curved, snaking modular sofa whose individual pieces can be zipped together to create multiple variations and arcs.
De Sede has collaborated with some of the world's finest design minds, enhancing the prestige and individuality of their products. Designers like Santiago Calatrava, Antonella Scarpitta, Stephan Hürlemann, Gordon Guillaumier and Philippe Malouin have all created pieces with the atelier. Ubald Klug’s 1974 DS-1025, also known as the Terrazza sofa, is an enduring favorite with its cascading levels of leather. In 2017, de Sede expanded its product line to include high-quality leather handbags, which are as thoughtfully designed and beautifully crafted as its furniture. De Sede AG is now part of the Volare Group AG and continues to handcraft its fine furniture and other goods from its factory in Klingnau.

About Jaime Hayon
Spanish artist-designer, Jaime Hayon was born in Madrid in 1974. After studying industrial design in Madrid and Paris, he joined Fabrica – design and communication academy in Italy, Benetton’s foundation - in 1997, where he directed the design department until 2003. Hayon set up his own studio in 2000 and dedicated himself fully to his personal projects from 2003 onward; today he is one of the most acclaimed creators worldwide.
His singular vision was first fully exposed in ‘Mediterranean Digital Baroque’ at London’s David Gill Gallery, followed by many exhibitions and installations, set up in major galleries and museums all over the world, in places like: Vivid Gallery, Mark Vienna, Groninger Museum, Aram Gallery, London’s Design Museum, Mudac Museum, Gallery Thomas in Munich, Walker art center, Centre Pompidou, as well as the Basel Art Fair, to name a few, attracting the attention of prestigious art collectors worldwide. Today his works are in the permanent collections of some of these institutions.
Hayon’s esteem and knowledge of artisan skills and his inherent creativity have allowed him to push the boundaries of many mediums and functions, resulting in collections for very diverse clients. His concern for the conservation of craft skills has joined his path with high-end traditional companies, concerned with the evolution of their work. Examples of this are his collaborations with Baccarat, Choemon in Japan, Bosa Ceramiche and Lladro.
He has created furniture ranges for the iconic Danish company Fritz Hansen, Magis, Established and Sons, Bisazza, B.D. Barcelona, Se London, Bernhardt Design, Ceccotti and Moooi. Certainly, you are familiar with the spinning dances of the dervishes in their long skirts. When they celebrate their centuries-old ritual in a trance, their generous movements create a particularly impressive motif that Italian designer Mario Ferrarini could never forget.
The whirling dervishes provided the inspiration for a conical table leg in which four pieces of Artisano leather are joined by hand with carefully applied cross stitching – the strong, shaping features of this leather are ideal for the DS 615 table series – whether as an exclusive conference table or as an eye-catcher in a stylish dining room: the table invites people to discuss, laugh, consult, eat or linger – there’s never a square moment!
