Greek Revival Dining Table Triple Pedestal Base & Elongated Octagon Glass Top

About the Item

Wonderful Greek Revival large dining table with a gray & black marbleized technique laminate covered triple octagon pedestal base & an elongated octagon glass top with beveled edges Attributed to Bernhardt. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The base molding around columns has been repainted and looks beautiful. We did not find any outstanding flaws to laminate or glass. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1980-1990’s. Oh. My. Goodness!!!! Look at this absolutely gorgeous Greek Revival style dining table attributed to Bernhardt!!! The base is comprised of three octagon shaped columns with a gray & black marbleized technique covered with laminate and a black painted inverted crown molding around the base of each column. The glass top is an elongated octagon shape or a rectangle with angled corners and beautiful, beveled edges. The base on the columns appears to mirror the bevel on the glass top… it’s really striking!! This table is large enough to be used as an office conference table or you could host up to twelve guests at your dining table (depending on the size of your chairs) AND it has a versatility that can accept and enhance many different styles of dining chairs. It’s a little Hollywood Regency and a little Greek Revival in style but would blend with or stand in juxtaposition to a myriad of design styles! Bernhardt Furniture was established in 1889 by John Mathias Bernhardt and has been going strong for over 125 years. He spent many years out west in Oregon Territory. After a serious illness, traveling back home to Lenoir, North Carolina and working as a logger in the densely forested foothills of Grandfather Mountain. He went to work for Caldwell Land and Lumber Company and while working there he convinced them to build a railroad to move lumber and supplies. He then purchased his own sawmill and began buying timber. The next step of manufacturing his own furniture followed soon after bringing the birth of Bernhardt Furniture. He became known as a man of integrity, giving back to his community and for producing high quality furniture. A legacy was born. It was carried on and improved upon by his sons, George Bernhardt and John Christian Bernhardt, and eventually his grandson, Alex Bernhardt Sr. Through the years they grew, expanded, diversified, bought other companies, sold other companies, created divisions, and let them go. Two important names in all the comings and goings were Flair and Hibriten. Bernhardt Furniture remains a family-owned company with Alex Bernhardt Jr. who is now the 4th generation to be involved. They continue John Mathias’ legacy of integrity, high-quality furnishings, and giving back to their community. A dining table this gorgeous won’t last long… Don’t hesitate, make it yours!!
