Measurements: D 135 x H.73 cm This rare piece will be shipped overseas in a custom made wooden crate. Cost of transport to the US crate included is Euro 1500. In the eyes of this accomplished citizen of the world, sharing his ethical and humanist vision of a more equal planet is a duty, if not a moral imperative, that results in unconventional projects, bearing fertile surprises. The French have always had a handle on style. No one is more adept at inventing and reinventing today’s lifestyle than French design superstar Philippe Starck. He started his style revolution by designing nightclubs in the late 1970s. When he was chosen in 1983 by President Mitterand to be one of the designers to re-imagine the private presidential apartments in the Elysées Palace, the young Starck stepped into the spotlight. Some thirty-five years later, he is a confirmed French design legend, still stage center. His hotels, restaurants, cafés, nightclubs, boutiques, private homes, museums, even wine cellars are each divertingly distinct. What’s so much fun about following Starck is that there’s always something new and surprising. By applying his prolific work to all domains, products of our daily life (furniture, lemon squeezer, electric bikes, individual wind turbine), architecture (hotels, restaurants that aspire to be stimulating places) and naval and spatial engineering (mega yachts, habitation module for private spatial tourism), he has continually pushed forward the limits and criteria of design, becoming one of the most visionnary and renowned creators of the international contemporary scene. In September 2017, The Milan Furniture Fair handed out its award for the second year running at the Triennale Arts Theatre. Among the winners were Philippe Starck, who was winner quite simply of « Best Designer ». The award is a strong validation of career at the service of products, furniture, objects which have touched so many people and on an international scale. Heralding the phenomena of convergence and dematerialisation, Philippe Starck aims straight for the heart, highlighting the essential, extracting the structural minimum of every object, in order to offer creations and propositions closest to man and nature, best adapted to the future. He dreams of solutions so vital that he was the first French man to be invited to the TED conferences (Technology, Entertainment & Design) alongside renowned participants including Bill Clinton and Richard Branson.
