Description:
Gigantic extending table from the west-south-west German late Biedermeier period.
When pushed together, we see an almost delicate-looking oval table with six conically tapering round legs and a solid cherry top. The two halves of the table are joined together with iron hooks, while an additional wooden guide ensures a precise fit.
The table can be extended to a total length of 502 cm with the help of a so-called link system, i.e. a rail system of interlocking timbers. The eight insert boards have widths of around 40-50 cm, so that intermediate lengths are of course also possible.
Two additional pairs of legs can be fitted for extra stability over the long length.
Condition:
Restored condition. The surface has been treated with shellac and then oiled.
