About the Item

An exceptional 1970s ‘Teso’ table designed by Italian architecture and design group Superstudio  for Giovanetti. This table has a trestle base in beautifully grained ash wood with a crossed steel-wire. The base supports a .5” thick rectangular tempered glass top, which highlights the constructivist design and architectural base from every perspective. Unmarked. Sourced in Italy, 1970s.  Superstudio was founded in 1966 in Florence by Adolfo Natalini and Cristiano Toraldo di Francia. It was one of Italy’s first counterculture “anti-design” groups, whose proposals used monochrome grid systems as a way to mediate and give equality to space. These were also frequently used in their furniture designs, achieved through the use of small white glazed tiles.
