About the Item

This is a beautiful Regency Revival flame mahogany and Satinwood banded oval dining table that was made by the Master Cabinet maker William Tillman and bears his label on the underside, Circa 1980 in date. The fabulous 5ft 6inch flame mahogany tilt top table can seat six people in comfort. The top is decoratively crossbanded in satinwood with ebony and boxwood stringing. It sits on a mahogany hand turned column with quadruple swept fluted sabre legs that terminate in brass toes and castors. There is no mistaking the fine craftsmanship of this handsome table which represents all the very best elements of English furniture making. It is certain to become a treasured addition to your furniture collection and a talking point with guests at meal times. THE BOTANICAL NAME FOR THE MAHOGANY THIS ITEM IS MADE OF IS SWIETENIA MACROPHYLLA AND THIS TYPE OF MAHOGANY IS NOT SUBJECT TO CITES REGULATION. Condition: In excellent condition having been beautifully cleaned polished and waxed in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation. Dimensions in cm: Height 72 x Width 170 x Depth 118 Dimensions in inches: Height 2 foot, 4 inches x Width 5 foot, 7 inches x Depth 3 foot, 10 inches William Tillman William Tillman was making fine reproduction furniture from the1970's until his retirement at the end of the 1990's and his work is considered to be of the highest quality and collected throughout the world. It has been sold in all of the famous London Stores including Harrods,Peter Jones and Maples and will almost certainly be considered important antique furniture of the future. Every piece of furniture was produced with the utmost skill and knowledge to ensure that the finished article would bear the most critical comparison with the original. Whilst the polish used was resistent to heat and water, the finished surface has a wax patination similar to that found on early furniture. Tillman pieces won the British Furniture Manufacturers, Showpiece of the Year award in three consecutive years. Our reference: A3290
