19th Century Dutch Continental Rosewood Marquetry Drop-Leaf Table

About the Item

Sophisticated elegance, is what comes to mind when setting eyes upon this richly colored rosewood veneered Biedermeier drop-leaf table from the mid-late 19th century. Continental European origin, likely Denmark, hand-crafted, finished in Dutch taste and featuring the most exquisite contrasting marquetry-work, decorated in Neoclassical style, with scrolled fiolate and campana urn motif. Having a rectangular top with string banded accent, an extension to each side, over frieze with faux drawer, rising on a trestle base joined by a central stretcher. This versatile table can be used in many ways including as a hall console or sofa table, centre table, writing desk, library table or stunning entry piece!. Dimensions (approx): 28.5"h, 37"w, 28"d Extended: 55.5"w Good antique condition. Presents splendidly. Age appropriate wear including some imperfections/signs off loss to the veneer at one corner. Somewhat fragile. Delivered cleaned, waxed, polished and ready for immediate use.
