English George II Mahogany Dropleaf Pad Foot Thirty Six Inch Oval Table

About the Item

English George II mahogany oval pad foot dropleaf table of small proportions. This dense mahogany table is in lovely condition, and is quite a versatile table because of its diminutive size. At only 36 1/2 inches wide and only 12 1/2 inches deep when closed it can fit into many small spaces from behind a sofa, to a hall way to almost any room in the house as a side table. When needed, the legs can be swung out and it can be opened fully to 36 1/2 by 38 inches. It can then be used to seat four people for an intimate meal or a card game or just as a center table with both leaves up. With one leaf up it is 28 1/2 inches deep and I often see these behind sofas with magazines or photos or a lamp and flowers. The only limits are your imagination. Circa 1760 .
