Hepplewhite Style Flame Mahogany Pembroke Table

About the Item

A charming Hepplewhite style mahogany pembroke table from the first half of the 20th century, having a rectangular top with serpentine shaped wooden hinged side flap extensions, outlined in a contrasting cross-banding inlay framing beautiful highly figured book-matched flame mahogany, featuring stunning swirl crotch grain patterns, with superb detail and warmth, over the solid mahogany frame fitted with two locking dovetailed drawers, each with escutcheon plate signed "HB Italy", original key included, the drawer fronts adorned with brass pulls, rising on tapered square legs. As warm and attractive as it is useful, the versatile 18th century European antique reproduction can be used a variety of different ways, including as a side table, centre table, cocktail drinks table, hall console, lamp stand, small sized kitchen or breakfast dining table, or stunning entry piece, to name just a few. Provenance: A magnificent Santa Fe, New Mexico estate. Dimensions: (approx) Leaves closed: 27.75"H, 31"W, 20"D Leaves open: 27.75"H, 31"W, 39"D Good original antique/vintage condition. Presents splendidly, having warm, rich, color and depth, with nicely aged patina over the whole. Strong, sturdy and structurally sound, with typical wear, moderate wear to the top, including some loss, distressing and craquelure to the finish from of age and use. Feet lacking metal caps. Overall a very beautiful, elegant, and sophisticated example, functional and full of antique character and charm. Delivered cleaned, hand waxed, polished and ready for immediate use.
