About the Item
Architectural postmodern/Art Deco American black walnut pillar end or side table. Design by Sum furniture and handcrafted in England using traditional techniques using the finest American Black Walnut. Hand-cut large dovetail jointing with turned walnut upright pillar piercing through the sections. These are multi functioning pieces and can also be used as nightstands or stools. These are substantial, bold and striking pieces of handmade furniture, built to last. Finished in durable natural oils.
Alternative versions can be seen in final images and are available in listings/storefront. Custom dimensions are available upon request.

We design bold and distinctive pieces of furniture – our main objective is combining the design alongside the natural beauty and properties of the raw materials.
These timbers and materials are very carefully chosen for each specific design - maintaining our focus on the benefits, visual impact and strengths of what we use.
Our regular use of English Quartersawn Oak is one case in point. It has been the beloved timber of fine furniture makers across the world for centuries. It is costly to produce but gives huge benefits and rewards such as its striking medullary rays and superb stability qualities.
By utilising these wonderful and naturally occurring features with our contemporary designs we aim to continue creating some very distinct, tactile and idiosyncratic pieces.
These are all completely handmade, in very small numbers, by our skilled craftspeople in England.
