MCM to Modern Founders Furniture Octagon Commode End Table Cabinet Patterns 21

About the Item

Wonderful MCM (a.k.a. Mid-Century Modern) to Modern Founders Furniture octagon commode table or end table cabinet #21135 Patterns 21 in solid Mozambique veneer & brass hardware. This piece still has its original hang tag. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1960-1970’s. Fabulous and Founders Furniture. What a uniquely designed octagon Founders Furniture Patterns 21 commode table #21135!! Just look at the incredible book-matched veneer top, the cut-off or angled corners, wonderful bronze-tone brass pull on its double opening doors, and it retains its original hang tag!! It also has an interesting groove detail and toe-kick. The wood grain is phenomenal although we had a debate here in the shop between my parents (and work partners!) as to whether it is comprised of rosewood or walnut… My mom said rosewood while my dad said walnut… So, hate to tell them BUT… they were BOTH wrong!! Ha Ha! After MY THOUROUGH research, we now know it is comprised of fabulous Mozambique wood aka Ovangkol or Shedua, an African hardwood! Also, we know Jack Cartwright designed for this company, and many mistakenly think that Milo Baughman did as well (he did not!) and even though we do not know who did design this beauty… we know that Baughman or Cartwright did NOT. Either way, it is a gorgeous end table with generous open storage space behind the double doors. This cabinet is exceptionally versatile and would be fabulous in a hall or entry way under a gorgeous piece of art adorned with a sculpture or foliage. In your family room used to store games and books or in your living room as a lovely end table. Possibilities for this magnificent cabinet are truly endless and it is going to blend in beautifully with any décor style whether mid-century modern, modern, traditional, modern country, or mountain cottage! Founders Furniture was started in 1947 as a subsidiary of the esteemed Knoll International for their residential line and then merged with Thomasville Furniture in 1965. Call it a commode table, call it an end table, or call it a cabinet… but whatever you choose to call it, Call it YOURS!!! End Table: • Height – 22.5 Inches • Width – 28 Inches • Depth – 28 Inches • Weight – 67.86 Pounds Boxed/Crated Size: • Height – 29 Inches • Width – 34 Inches • Depth – 34 Inches • Boxed Weight – 85 Pounds • Crated Weight – 140 Pounds.

Handsome and versatile Mid-Century Modern walnut cocktail table, coffee table, side table, or end table in the style of Founders Furniture. It is made of solid walnut and in fabulous vintage condition. We have professionally restored the top and refreshed the base. Please see photos, circa 1960s-1970s. Oh my! The graining of the walnut on this table is so gorgeous! But then I am partial to walnut. How could you not be? So…that combined with this table’s versatility…you can’t go wrong. It is comprised of a solid walnut base made up of four square legs and four square stretchers with a solid walnut square top that overhangs the base equally on all sides. Simple yet stunning. Its height and size are such that it can be used as a cocktail/coffee table or end/side table. It is the perfect depth for a Mid-Century Modern sofa and in the home where we obtained it, was used as a corner table for a matching sofa and chair...
