About the Item

A finely made pair of country French fruitwood nightstands or end tables. circa 1910 Hand-crafted in France in the late 19th / early 20th century, styled in elegant Provincial Louis XV taste, finished on all sides so they can be placed anywhere in the room, having a shaped top with rich wood grain patterns and partial gallery, over two dovetailed drawers, affixed with ornate brass Rocaille pulls, flanked by canted corners, over a scalloped apron, rising on cabriole legs, retaining original antique character and charm throughout, including square pegged mortise through-tenoned case joinery and evidence of old woodworm that adds to the overall authenticity, sophisticated antique character, elegant warmth and rustic old world European charm! Marks / Signed: Stamped underside, circular symbol depicting crowned fire-breathing dragon. Dimensions: (approx) 23.75" High, 20 1/8" Wide, 13.5" Deep (each) As warm and handsome as they are useful, having the ideal size and proportions for a variety of uses, including as bedside night stand, chair side cabinets, sofa end tables, occasional table, diminutive chest of drawers and more. Very good original condition. Presents well, with nicely aged patina, warm, rich wood tones and superb grain detail. Wear consistent with age and use. Delivered cleaned, waxed, with hand rubbed polished French patina finish, ready for immediate use and generational enjoyment!
