Rustic Yellow Concrete Stool with Textured Corn Husk Imprints, 'Switchback'
About the Item
A wheaty yellow concrete stool with horizontal corn husks embedded on the sides with intermixed abstract texture. Handpacked concrete made with Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) techniques and recycled glass. Felt pads on bottom allow for smooth, scratch-free sliding on any surface. Made in California by mother and son small business with 28 years of experience. Weighs ~50 pounds and one person can lift and move with inset base for easy handholds. Completely one of kind work pushing the boundaries of concrete design.
"Switchback is a corn husk ascent into a wheat field, whirling with whimsy. Grasp the crevices and finagle your way into another mirthful land. Ho hey, says the lone farmer, let us taste bread together on this plateau. The route is bright but treacherous, may a fresh meal be a most frugal reward my traveler."

We are Pamela Holmes and Ryder Holmes Wilson, and we have made modern concrete furniture and art by hand for 23 years. We are a humble two-person business located in the dense Redwoods of Cazadero, California. We are constantly evolving our techniques and aesthetic, drawing especially from the land and plants of the nearby area. Each work we make is unique and something we hope will last hundreds of years. Our oeuvre includes hundreds of dining tables and sculptures, and thousands of side and coffee tables. Designers and stores we have worked with include Baker Furniture, Anthropologie, 505 Design, The Gardener, Caravane and many more.
