Large Early 19th Century French Cherry Wood Farmhouse Kitchen Table

About the Item

A Stunning Early 19th Century French Cherry Wood Farmhouse Kitchen Dining Table, Of Rare Large Proportions To Seat 12 Comfortably, Having Well Figured Plank Top With Cleated Ends, Over Attractive Shaped Frieze With Drawer To One End And Pull Out Bread Slide To Other End, Raised On Elegant Cabriole Legs, Retaining Exceptional Colour And Patina Throughout. A quite wonderful farmhouse kitchen dining table which boasts great size, comfortably seating 12 people, which is pretty rare, and also the perfect shape to use in a whole variety of dining rooms and kitchens with all sorts of different styles and designs of chairs. It is quite rare to find these early 19th century french variations, especially ones which retain such a lovely colour and are of such good size. Most which can be found on the market are from much later in the 19th century and tend not to have the depth of colour and richness of surface which this wonderful table boasts. The lovely top has cleated ends, which was a technique used to try and minimise shrinkage and movement between the long planks used for the top, so whilst there is plenty of evidence of use throughout the many years of its life it remains just as functional as the day it was mad. It also boasts a small drawer to one end and a good size pull out serving slide originally probably for chopping bread on to the other end, both of which are useful features as well. The base is very sturdy and strong, whilst remaining extremely attractive, resulting in an incredibly sound, solid table. Another great feature is the stretcherless design, ensuring that there are no support stretchers getting in a persons way whilst they try to sit at the table. An absolutely charming table of great size, which can comfortably seat 12 and is the perfect shape for just about any dining room and can be used with almost any kind of chairs. As with all items we offer for sale it has been naturally wax polished, in the traditional manner, by our specialist antique furniture restorers before being offered for sale, ensuring it is ready to be placed straight into the home.
