18th Century French Onyx and Marble Top Carved Oak Chess and Checker Game Table

About the Item

Decorate a den or game room with this elegant antique card table. Crafted in southern France circa 1780, the table stands on thick barley twist legs decorated with diamond shape medallions at the shoulder, and connected at the base with a twisted H form stretcher embellished with a central finial and floral rosettes at the corners. The top built with a oak frame and carved edges, features a inset blue onyx and marble surface decorated with a black and white checker or chess board game in the center. The table is further dressed with a large drawer across the front embellished with the original bronze knobs. The game table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich dark oak patinated finish along with a colorful top. A true one-of-a-kind!
