About the Item

This elegant octagonal game table dates back to around 1830 and impresses with its intricate marquetry work and timeless craftsmanship. The tabletop features a detailed chessboard made from various fine woods, framed by elaborate geometric and ornamental patterns. The central column is finely turned and rests on three curved legs with matching inlaid details, ensuring both stability and visual harmony. The top is attached to the base with a traditional wooden screw mechanism, which still works flawlessly and allows the top to be unscrewed if needed. The table has been carefully restored and is in very good condition, preserving its warm patina and authentic charm. A rare and decorative piece that serves equally well as a functional chess table or as a distinctive accent in any refined interior. Chess pieces can be provided upon request.
