19th Century French Louis XIII Carved Walnut Envelope Folding Card Game Table

About the Item

Decorate a game room or a den with this elegant antique folding card table. Crafted in France circa 1890 and built of walnut wood, the square table stands on barley twist legs ending with bun feet, connected with a X-form cross stretcher at the base dressed with a carved finial. The table is dressed with a single frieze drawer across the front and embellished with a brass pull handle. The top features hinged quadrants centering a carved rosette motif. Opening the table by unfolding the four napkin form sides and twisting the whole top in a secure position, it reveals a larger surface upholstered with green velvet. The Louis XIII style envelope card table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich walnut patina. Practical, unusual and versatile, the table could also be used as a side or occasional table. Measures: 22.5"W x 22.5"D x 29.75" H (closed) 31.75"W x 31.75"D x 28.5"H (opened).
