Antique Italian Inlaid Walnut Game Table
About the Item
Antique Italian inlaid walnut game table is an unusual find, and will provide decades of enjoyment and good looks for your family! The understated elegance of the cabriole legs and subtly scrolled apron reflect a more restrained interpretation of the style, with a minimum of carved embellishment primarily in the feet, but with visual enhancements galore! Each shoulder of the four legs features a splendid bronze casting exhibiting fine detail, with flourishes centered on the apron on all four sides. One apron even features a drawer framed by molding and fitted with a single brass knob. The entire look of the table's apron and leg celebrate the sheer natural beauty of the indigenous walnut available in abundance when this piece was made. The top, however, steals the show with extraordinary inlay of ebony and satinwood creating a pair of backgammon tables side by side. Of course, a chess board can be placed on top, or card games can be played as well. Because of the design, this table would be a great choice behind the sofa, or even in a hallway, to be pulled out only as needed. You can also leave it out in full view for all to admire every single day!
