  • Maurice Bailey for Monteverdi-Young High Back Executive Armchair, 1977, Signed
    By Monteverdi-Young, Maurice Bailey
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
Gorgeous burgundy tufted leather and Mahogany high-back executive armchair on casters by Maurice Bailey for Monteverdi Young, signed with date stamped (April 1977) makers label. Renown for their application of the Italian modernist movement in their designs, Monteverdi-Young paired this approach with old-fashioned craftsmanship, both of which these notions are evident in this expansive executive chair. Featuring a high back with channel style button tufting, upholstered arms and Mahogany base and casters, this commanding desk chair would add an air of notoriety to any space. The original manufacturing tag is found under the seat cushion with the date April 1977. The archetypal design from Maurice Bailey mixed with expert craftsmanship of Monteverdi Young makes this chair appropriate in a Hollywood Regency, Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home, office or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Post-Modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Consider using as a side chair, dining, cafe or breakfast table chair, bedside chair...

  • Rare Exotic Cocobolo Rosewood Dining Table by Don Shoemaker for Senal, Signed
    By Senal, Don S. Shoemaker
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
This extremely rare and highly coveted sculptural dining table in exotic Cocobolo Rosewood was designed by leading 1960s modernist designer Don Shoemaker and is signed with a partial Senal S.A. label on the underside. We fully restored this gorgeous piece in a French Polish which is the most expensive and labor intensive finish available due to the numerous hand applied layers, but it is worth every penny as it provides a smooth and hard surface which accentuates the exotic wood grain while providing a protective surface for every day use. Crafted of exotic woods, the top features a stunning patchwork array of Cocobolo Rosewood parquetry inlay which connects to solid Zebrawood articulating legs that connect via wooden pegs. With the pegs removed, the biomorphic sculpted legs can fold and pack near-flat making transport of this table easy and works great for transformable spaces - if you are having a party and need to make space for a dance floor- simply stow away this table and now you have space to get the party started. This extremely rare and highly sought after work of art is ideal for avid collectors and investors of modern art and interior designers who have a client looking for the best of the best. This table is the pièce de résistance for Don Shoemaker collectors and this particular example is exquisite as it is signed with a partial original label and is in stunning condition. Mexican Modern is a style that fits incredibly well with Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern, Danish Modern, Brazilian Modern, Art Deco, Classical and Hollywood Regency. It is also a great addition for interior designers to turn an otherwise simple contemporary space and add a splash of wild and interesting. Also consider this Don Shoemaker for Senal SA...
