Near-Pair Set of American Federal Card Tables

About the Item

A set of two Federal mahogany folding card tables. Handcrafted circa 1825. They are a near-identical pair with the legs varying slightly in design. These tables are remarkable for their elegant features: the rounded molding of the tops, the hand-carved acanthus leaves, and the rope-turned legs that end in brass casters. The top is hinged and unfolds, expanding to a more rounded shape. One of the back legs easily swings back to support the top when the table is unfolded. We love the versatility of these tables! When they are folded they make a lovely pair of side tables. Additional photos are available upon request. Dimensions when folded: 39 in. width 19 in. depth 30 in. height Dimensions when expanded: 39 in. width 39.25 in. depth 30 in. height Condition notes: In very good condition. The wood has minor wear that's consistent with the tables' age and use, including surface scratches and dints, cup staining on foldable surface, and chip to one back.
