19th Century Dutch Bleached Cherry Kitchen Table / Butcher Table

About the Item

Kitchen table handmade in the Netherlands in the early 1800s using Cherry and pegged construction. This is a very well-built table that was meant to be used and abused and it has held wonderfully through time. The table features a thick three-boards top with flat edges. The boards are mortised to one another and pegged to the base. The apron is flat and decorated in parts with chamfered panels framed by flat molding. On the sides we can find two inset drawers that run through the table, so they can be opened on either sides. On one end we then have a very large single drawer with a wooden handle (still original). The legs are tapered and pegged to the apron. The table was bleached and now has a beautiful light cream/ivory color. Despite being a pretty large table its simple and straight lines give it a light appearance and make it the perfect table for a farmhouse kitchen or industrial loft.
