About the Item

An 18th-century English side table, likely an oak lowboy or a similar one-drawer side table. This style is consistent with the characteristics of English furniture from that period, blending elements of the Queen Anne and early Georgian styles. Resting on distinctive rounded "pad feet" on the cabriole-style front legs that are also a hallmark of the Queen Anne style. The top and drawer front with contrasting string inlay. The apron with pierced or carved latticework below the drawer, and decorated with ornate brass escutcheon (keyhole plate) and Bat Wing drop handles. No key. Dimensions: 40 1/2" L, 23" D, 29 1/8" H Condition: various signs of age include a chip to foot (see photo), touched up gouge to the drawer front. No key. Old cosmetic repairs. 2 tiny losses to string inlay. Top with slight warp and rear edge with a 2” gauge (See photo) Please see detail photos for condition. Condition consistent with age and use and despite the wear the chest retains an elegant and authentic presentation.
