About the Item

A French console table with transitional/fold out top from the 19th century. This antique table from France has a rectangular-shaped top (with beautiful burl wood inlay and banding embellishments) that can be folded open so that the size doubles and the table top becomes a more expansive baize (green felt type fabric) lined surface. The apron mimics the same lovely wood and banding design of the top, and is able to extend outward as to create the support for the larger top above when that is in use. The table is presented upon four squared legs that gently taper to their feet. When the table is fully opened, the top is approximately 33 inches square. This 19th century French table, with its expandable top, will make a beautiful petite-sized console or end table, with the added ability to double as a card or game table when needed.
