About the Item

Small capretta table hand-made in Italy in the early 1900s using walnut and pegged construction. The table is tall and thin, making it perfect as a side table or end table, but also as a little entry table against a wall, where to place a nice vintage Murano key bowl and light fixture to welcome you home. The top is made of a single board of walnut mortised into flat molding with rounded corners and straight edges. The legs are triangular and made with solid walnut sections mortised together. The legs are long and thin, and reminded people in the past of the legs of goats, hence the name "capretta" for this type of Italian tables. Overall the table is very simple, yet elegant in lines and, as mentioned, can have many different functions depending on the need. Its small size make it perfect for a small apartment, but also to be added as a statement piece in an empty spot of a bigger home.
