Antique early 19th century Spanish Provincial Chestnut side table or tavern tabl

About the Item

A beautiful antique side table or occasional table that was made in rural Spain circa 1820. The solid hand-carved oak rectangular top was made from a single board of wood and was jointed to the pine base by dovetail joints. The table features a drawer with a forged steel drawer ring with a curved apron below. It has a warm honey color with deep gloss and a great patina built up over many years. It shows the marks of many years of intensive use. The tabletop has many dents, scratches, and stains that give this piece its unique appearance. These tables were used throughout the house and were moved around a lot. The solid construction made it possible for this piece to survive. The solid oak top is most likely not authentic to the table, but an older replacement. Since oakwood is far more dense than pine, the oak top is more durable and therefor a logical replacement. The table was gently cleaned in our workshop and a new protective wax coat was applied. The table is clean, solid and ready for use.
