Antique French Oak Ecclesiastical Gothic Adjustable Reading Table Lectern Stand

About the Item

A 19th century French oak fully adjustable reading table in the Ecclesiastical Gothic style. Circa 1880. The table has a rounded rectangular plateau with two book rests, terminating on a turned and carved column with weighted quatrefoil base, and sitting on castors. The two book rests are held by brass catches. The table is fully adjustable, and all adjustment mechanisms are in good working order. The table's height can be adjusted, and the plateau tilts and swivels, and can be set flat so that it can be used as a side table. The mechanism is part oak, part cast iron. Overall in very good condition, the table has been cleaned and waxed. There are some marks and light knocks. One of the castors has been replaced at some point, this is of a similar vintage. The top has been reset at some point, you can make out the old filled screw holes. The table's lowest height as a table is 75cm and adjusts to 102cm high. It is 121cm high when tilted at full height adjustment. The base is 62cm x 43cm. The plateau is 89.5cm wide x 50cm deep. Delivery is INCLUDED in the price for all areas in MAINLAND England & Wales. Free delivery is restricted to ground and first floor, unless there is a lift the item can fit in. There is an additional charge of £12 per floor for delivery above the first floor via the stairs.
