De Sede
A de Sede piece lends a strong personality to the room it occupies. One of the world’s most respected furniture design houses, de Sede’s quality Swiss craftsmanship has its foundation in a long history of making expertly designed saddles. Founded in 1965 to build on a successful family-run saddler’s workshop in Klingnau, Switzerland, de Sede now is a leading manufacturer of leather goods and furniture, including sofas, chairs and beds.
At the core of de Sede’s philosophy is a reverence for the complexity and beauty of handcrafted furniture in an age when mass-produced objects are the norm. Over the years, the atelier has built a name for itself in its modular furniture pieces, which are made using the highest quality leather upholstery. The sleek, elegant pieces incorporate functionality with beauty. Amongst their best-selling designs is the DS-600 introduced in 1972. Also known as the Non Stop sofa, it is a sensually curved, snaking modular sofa whose individual pieces can be zipped together to create multiple variations and arcs.
De Sede has collaborated with some of the world's finest design minds, enhancing the prestige and individuality of their products. Designers like Santiago Calatrava, Antonella Scarpitta, Stephan Hürlemann, Gordon Guillaumier and Philippe Malouin have all created pieces with the atelier. Ubald Klug’s 1974 DS-1025, also known as the Terrazza sofa, is an enduring favorite with its cascading levels of leather. In 2017, de Sede expanded its product line to include high-quality leather handbags, which are as thoughtfully designed and beautifully crafted as its furniture. De Sede AG is now part of the Volare Group AG and continues to handcraft its fine furniture and other goods from its factory in Klingnau.

- De Sede DS-196 Side Table with Cherrywood Top & Metal Base by Gordon GuillaumierBy De Sede, Gordon GuillaumierLocated in Brooklyn, NYStylish simplicity. Despite its material mix of metal and wood or marble, the DS-196 side table demonstrates just how stylish simplicity can be. In its role as an unpretentious sidekick, it comes across as reticent where modesty is called for – or, quite the contrary, as a skillful eye-catcher brimming with individuality that can assert itself in any room. That is why this table can be combined with any style. Growing up, as Gordon Guillaumier did, on a Mediterranean island, one never forgets the calm of the water, the scent of vastness and the stories of the locals for as long as one may live: in his work for De Sede, the Maltese recalled the historic sites of Romans, Moors, French and the Order of St.John on the archipelago between Sicily and the coast of North Africa. The result of this melting pot of memories is the image of a rocky cliff that the designer lifts up from the watery depths: a single-legged, linearly designed leg holds a tabletop that fulfills its Mission in a manner that is as filigree as it is confident: here I am in a seemingly minor role, and ready for anything big that might come along. Additional information: Material: Wood, metal Top: Cherrywood Characteristics: Wood is a precious raw material, and we purchase it only from suppliers that have been selected according to strict criteria. In our collection, we offer a wide range of wood types ranging from oak to American walnut to cherry. Dimensions: 45 W x 40 D x 55 H cm Available in other upholstery options: Calacatta Oro, Star Dust, Sahara Noir, Rosso Lepanto, Verde Guatemala, Green Botanic, Beola (Indoor / Semi-outdoor), Labrador antique...Category
