Thomas Bentzen’s portable side table is aptly named ‘Don’t Leave Me’. Abbreviated to DLM, it features a convenient handle that allows the metal table to be carried from room to room. Although it has a lightweight and portable structure, the three slanted legs provide great stability.

Designer
Thomas Bentzen is a Danish designer who founded his own studio in Copenhagen in 2010. Previously, he was a partner at Studio Louise Campbell, where he worked for five years. He is a board member of the Danish Cabinetmakers Autumn Exhibition (SE) and an occasional teacher at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design. Bentzen is a methodical designer, who seeks to create fine-tuned products that are both engaging and durable. He works in the classic tradition of Scandinavian design – with a pragmatic, unassuming and universal outlook. Against this backdrop, he has shown a talent for creating designs that are imbued with a contemporary feel that spark a sense of joy too. For HAY, Bentzen has designed the DLM Table and Shade Bin.

The Laguna end table shown here in ebonized walnut and glass can be made in custom sizes, shapes and various woods and finishes. The same design details apply to all possible variations. Popular glass top shapes are oval, rectangular, square and round.
The Laguna series tables are some of my favorite and most challenging to build. Each base is unique as the process and resulting form is ultimately sculptural. The 1/2" thick tempered glass top is supported by a base made of walnut consisting of tapering arcs of varying size which intersect to form a dynamic structure.
The series works well with almost any shaped top be it glass, stone or solid wood. The Laguna series of tables makes the ultimate sculptural statement in any setting. Each table base is unique comprising of a number of tapered arcs joined to create a structure with endless visual possibilities.
All the elements are shaped, joined and finished by hand so as to create a united design.
