About the Item
A charming French 18th century Louis XV period Rosewood and ormolu side table circa 1750. The small scale table is raised by elegant slender cabriole legs with lovely foliate ormolu sabots and connected by a fine square bottom tier shelf with a delicately inlaid fillet. At the center above the scallop shaped apron are two drawers and one unique faux drawer which opens on the right side. The central drawer displays a charming tied ribbon ormolu keyhole escutcheon while the others display a fine brass pull also repeated at the pullout which retains its original fitted leather writing surface. The sides, top, and back each display beautiful veneered Rosewood designs showcasing the warm wood grain and framed within an additional fine inlaid fillet.
