French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Mahogany, Rosewood, and Ormolu Side Table
About the Item
A stunning and extremely high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Mahogany, Rosewood, and ormolu side table attributed to Sormani. The table is raised by elegant topie shaped feet with fine fitted foliate ormolu sabots. Above the feet are beautiful block reserves with charming floral rosettes. Four most decorative circular tapered fluted column supports lead upwards with fine ormolu top and bottom caps and richly chased fitted foliate chandelles. The supports are connected by a superb bottom Rosewood tier with a striking quarter veneered designed framed within an outstanding Entrelacs et les Rosaces ormolu band. Above each support are intricately detailed rosettes in an exquisite satin and burnished finish flanking charming richly chased swaging and floral garlands extending along the single drawer at the front as well as the sides and back. The top also displays a remarkable quarter veneered Rosewood design showcasing the stunning warm wood grain framed within a mottled Coeur de Rai ormolu band.
