About the Item
A remarkable and most decorative French 19th century Louis XVI st. giltwood and Rosso Levanto marble side table/pedestal. The table is raised by striking Greek key shaped feet with fine acanthus leaf supports below the elegantly curved legs. Each leg is connected by a central triangular stretcher with block rosettes, concave sides with most decorative fitted overlapping circular designs, and a central floral finial. Above each leg are additional richly carved block rosettes adorned with most elegant tied swaging berried laurel garlands below the fluted apron with a finely mottled fillet at the border leading to exceptional reserves of the eternal flame and a quiver tied by a charming bow amidst berried laurel branches. Above a richly carved wrap around tied berried laurel band is the original fitted Rosso Levanto marble top with a fine mottled border. All original gilt throughout.
