French Inlay & Ebonized Etagere Circa 1900
About the Item
This extraordinary French etagere from the 19th century is marquetry art in furniture form. Each shelf is painstakingly inlaid with alternating patterns of ebonized and zebra woods, over bird’s eye maple to geometric precision. The top tier is enclosed on three sides with a cast brass gallery and accented on the corners with brass finials, punctuated at the center with a tile of mother-of-pearl. All three elements raised on slender, ebonised legs. A unique piece with versatility to offer a bit of shelf space in any room. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for your interior.
