French Modernist Gilded Wrought-Iron & Glass Coffee Accent Table ca. 1950s
Located in Shippensburg, PA
MODERNIST GILDED WROUGHT-IRON AND GLASS COFFEE TABLE French, circa 1950s unmarked Item # 401RGG02P-1 An endlessly interesting modernist accent table from the 1950s, it works perfectly both as a side table beside a low sofa or chair or as a coffee or cocktail table. The diminutive stature of the table allows it to be a part of the room without dominating at all, adding texture and visual interest with the brilliantly textured gilt patina while having a great deal of negative space that makes the table feel light, airy and relaxed. The 3/8" thick (and brand new) glass top is set into tiny grooves in the legs, each with a single twisted iron ring hanging from the top with a gentle curved profile that terminates in a stubbed sabot. Ready to place. We acquired this together with a matched pair to this that is almost identical in size but is a simple black patination instead of having the gilt surface on the wrought iron; contact us if you would like to know about the other table. Measurements: 19 1/8" H x 29 5/8" diameter Condition Report: Glass is brand new 3/8" thick tempered clear glass; table in very good condition, light wear to gilding and overall patina in a few spots, incredibly sturdy and solid. A fine ready-to-place presentation. About silla antiques...

French Waxed Oak Swinging Bar Serving Cabinet by Guillerme et Chambron
By Guillerme et Chambron
Located in Shippensburg, PA
WAXED OAK AND TILE SWINGING BAR CABINET By Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron designed for Votre Maison with original Spanish ceramic tiles unmarked, circa 1970 Item # 401PFP02A A rare, fascinating and incredibly relevant tuckaway bar cabinet designed by Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron circa 1970, it is exquisitely crafted from solid European oak that is lightly brushed to raise the grain and retains an early waxy finish. The upright post is lighted with a lamp fixture at the top ready to receive the shade of your choice while wire is set in a channel in the back of the post so that it remains mostly hidden by the wall. It is designed to be screwed into the wall with two bolts, these covered with oak dowels (one missing), but the cabinet can still be removed from the upright by withdrawing two large dowels. The bar cabinet is designed to present as a simple naturalistic facade with horizontal set planks embellished with a simple bevelled reveal from the upper planks to the inner planks of oak. The top of the cabinet is inset to receive three ceramic tiles so that drinks can be prepared and set upon the top. Once the cabinet is swung open, you can prepare drinks easily with two shelves in the upper for glasses and accessories while the tiled surface at the bottom can hold the liquids. It is was produced by the firm Votre Maison ("Your Home") owned by Guillerme and Chambron together with master cabinetmaker Émile Dariosecq. An incredibly fun and compelling form that is easily lived with and that, most importantly, remains in fine original condition. Measurements: 58 3/4" H to highest point of the lamp; 39 1/4" H to highest point of the bar; 11 1/2" D x 29 1/2" W Condition Report: Very minor surface wear, presents beautifully; no lamp shade present; original wiring for European outlets - we can have this rewired upon request; minor white marks/scuffs/blemishes. Missing one oak...

Paul Sormani French Dressing Table Amboyna Veneer (Rare). Circa 1870
By Paul Sormani
Located in Incline Village, NV
Paul Sormani (1817-1877) designed and was the maker of this superb quality small dressing table; from his Paris workshop at 10 R. Charlot Park (this was his second workshop---opened in 1867). The attention to detail and intricate design, in addition to selection and application of premium materials and resources are typical of Sormani dedication to excellence, as was recognized by many of his contemporaries during several mid-century Parisean exhibitions. Brass inlaid Fleur de Lis medallion decorates the center; surrounded by beautiful and rare burl Amboyna veneer wood from Indonesia. The surface is bordered by a bold brass application to the serpentine perimeter. A satinwood inlaid border decoration to the surface further enhances the decor. The highly figured veneer design of the surface is further on display to the rectangular 4" skirt support above four elegant cabriole legs with full length linear bold inlaid and applied brass accoutrements to the corners; top to bottom; ending in bronze mounted feet. The special interior is accessed by lifting the top up connected by a pair of decorated and embossed rear hinges; revealing a full surface mirror back and a fitted storage sections with a sliding tray for personal particulars; jewelry, papers, make up, sewing implements, or valuables as may be kept private by locking mechanism which bears the signature and street address of "Paul Sormani, 10 R. Charlot Park". The condition of the table is original, sturdy, and well made with no replacements. Surfaces have a mellow patina displaying warm, age related hues. A small rectangular section to the top surface measuring 2" x 3 1/2", just off the left and front of the center medallion is present. It does not look like a replacement because the grain transcends the section matching perfectly. It simply looks like an early restoration of some kind; possibly done contemporaneously with the manufacture of the table and possibly at the workshop of Sormani Maison because it is done so well. Please note the close up image (#3) of this repair. The base of the interior underneath (see image) is fastened with butterfly wood...
