  • Beast, One of a Kind Blue Bench in Brazilian Hardwood
    By Todos Os Fogos
    Located in São Paulo, SP
Sculpture-bench presented at the 12th São Paulo Design Week, in 2023, during the exhibition “How much time do we have?”. at the historic "Edifício Virgínia", a derelict building in the downtown core of Brazil's most populous city. "Beast 2023" is a metaphor for Ana's creative process as a woodworker and designer, six years after I started working with solid wood. The project discusses the impossibility of control during creative processes, and the vitality that objects gain by distancing themselves from the initial illustration. The bench was made in two species of brazilian hardwood: jequitibá rosa (cariniana legalis) and muiracatiara (astronium lecointei ducke). Its main body was handcrafted in jequitibá rosa, colored in indigo blue and finished with a mix of tung oil and copal varnish. The wood clamp...

  • Kai Swing, Outdoor - Indoor Swing in Brazilian Hardwood
    By Todos Os Fogos
    Located in São Paulo, SP
The piece was designed in 2022 on order for "House Kai", receiving the same name. The Hawaiian word "Kai" means "sea", "ocean" or " what comes from the sea". The swings are made in limited editions, using Brazilian solid wood species that are uncommon in the furniture industry. This design is made with hand skills from our makers as well as digital fabrication from a CNC router. In the photos, you can see a edition in "Louro Vermelho" ( Nectandra Rubra) with some datails in "Freijó" (Boraginaceae) and "Itaúba" ( Lauraceae). We use different solid woods for each edition. All legally harvested wood. Each piece is engraved on the back with its numbering, edition and wood species used. Furniture suitable for indoor areas or covered outdoor areas. Finishing: danish oil 10 meters of rope will be included shipped knotted...
